Even California had imposed a temporary ban on watering ornamental grass during the drought they faced through the last decade. In Southern Nevada, it is also noted that potential homebuyers don't mind neighborhoods that have parks without ornamental grass. Buyers are becoming more willing to choose responsible development practices, especially water usage.

Many other regional water officials agree that water consumption will have to be reduced, keeping the future in mind, but are skeptical about bringing in bans as yet.

Although the Southern Nevada Water Authority isn't sure how far other cities will adapt to the idea of banning ornamental grass, it believes that eventually, other cities will have to bring about changes. Especially all the communities that rely on the Colorado River water.
